Christian Education
Children’s Nursery
Our nursery is a warm, colorful room located in the basement. It is
open from 9:00am until noon Sundays, for infants and children up to
5 years old. It is staffed by 2 college students majoring in
education or child development. All nursery workers have clearances
and enjoy working with children.
Junior Church
Junior Church meets during both services. After the children’s
sermon, the children are taken downstairs by a teacher who provides
an age related discussion related to the scripture reading and
sermon heard by the parents. All teachers have appropriate
clearances.
Youth
Class is at 10:00am in our newly remodeled and painted
classrooms in the basement. Classes are held for Pre-school through
Senior High.
Confirmation
Youth (6th Grade and up) are invited to participate in Confirmation
classes preparing young adults to be effective Christians in the
world and church. Each monthly session will consider a different
aspect of the church's presence within the world and explore
actively how we can make a difference! Contact
Pastor Pam for more information or
to volunteer your help.

Cross and
Crown Class
This class
membership is “senior citizens” or the mature group. They study the
Adult Bible Studies from
Cokesbury
Publishing. The class meets in the parlor and starts with “HUGS” for all; so if you
don’t understand the lesson, come for the HUG.
The
Seekers
This class is a multi-generational discussion group which meets
in the Fellowship Hall. The discussion leader is Gary
Wakefield.
College & Young at Heart
This class meets regularly but uses different
rooms in the church. Just ask anyone where the class is meeting
any particular Sunday and join in the lively discussions.

Community Outreach
Vacation Bible School
We participate with other local churches to
provide VBS each summer, usually the last week of June. Needless to
say, the children always have a great time!
Farmer’s Market
In the summer we participate in the Farmer’s
market in town with a booth of various fresh vegetable, baked goods
etc. as a way to reach out to the community and raise funds for
missions.

Mission Outreach
Slippery Rock is a member of the Western PA
Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church through which we
exercise our role as part of a connectional church, “the Power of
One.” As a church and as individuals we find our fingerprints of
service throughout the community and around the globe.
As a church body, we contribute support to the
Ambridge Fellowship, Cub Scout Pack, Six Special Sundays of
Awareness,
Hurricane relief, and global relief
through
UMCOR.
You will find our members offering themselves
as volunteers throughout the community, food programs,
Volunteers in Mission,
Habitat for Humanity and other
similar missions all in the name of Jesus.

Bible Study
Young Couples
We are a young couples' Bible study that meets every other
Tuesday night at one of the couples' homes. We'd love to have
other couples join us in our Bible study and fellowship, so
please contact us and we can tell you more about it!
Disciple Bible Study
Plans are in the works for a Disciple Bible Study after the
first of the year. Disciple is a 39 week commitment to
studying the
Old and New Testament in a tried and true format that has
changed lives in profound ways. Because this is such a personal
commitment, pray about joining this study. And when you are
ready, talk to Pastor Pam for more information. Meeting times
can be scheduled around your needs.
Bible studies are
held throughout the year so check back frequently for new listings.

Prayer Group
Our prayer group meets every
Tuesday morning at 10:00am in the Parlor. We take requests
throughout the week and have an ongoing list we refer to every week.
You may leave a request in the offering plate or call the church
office or Nora Mae Smith (724-794-3829) and it will be passed on. We
also have an active prayer chain which can be activated by calling
Claire Barron (724-794-8132) and an e-mail prayer group as well. To
submit a prayer request to the e-mail prayer group, or have your
e-mail address added to the group, contact
Paul Mowrey.
“Whatever you ask in prayer,
you will receive, if you have faith.” Matt. 21:22

Adult Choir
Adult choir meets
every Wednesday at 7pm September through May. We sing an anthem
every Sunday at the 11:00am service and often an offertory. Every
year the choir presents a cantata either at Christmas or Easter with
extra rehearsals scheduled. Anyone who enjoys singing is encouraged
to attend and “make a joyful noise”.
Praise Team
The Praise Team helps with the 9am Contemporary
service every Sunday and practices Tuesdays at 6pm. If you would
like to participate as an instrumentalist or vocalist and enjoy this
style of music please join us.
Drama Team
Periodically we offer
special programs that include a drama. At those times we invite
members of the congregation to participate and enjoy another form of
ministry and sharing God’s love to our community.
Library
The library is in the Parlor next to the
Sanctuary, it is open during office hours, Sunday morning and when
needed other times you can make arrangements for it to be open for
you. We have books of general interest as well as books on mission,
